Music is an important part of our worship services at UU Detroit. It can speak to the soul deeply and powerfully, creating a time of beauty and reflection. We draw from many musical traditions: from classical to Motown, from Christian hymns to world music, and beyond.

We frame our worship service with an instrumental prelude and postlude. During the service, we also sing several hymns as a congregation. In addition, our choir performs an anthem to complement the theme of the service at least once a month, from September through June. A musical interlude also serves as a time for reflection, meditation, or prayer.

Joining the choir can be a fun and meaningful way for adults, youth, and children to get involved in the life of our congregation. The choir rehearses three times a month, typically on the first three Sundays from 9:00 to 10:30 am. We invite instrumentalists, solo vocalists, and other performing artists to share their talents as well.
