We gather together in spiritual community because we need constant reminders of what matters most in life. In a world of heartbreak and dehumanization, our congregation calls us to our better selves.

At UU Detroit, our weekly Sunday worship is a cooperative effort of the Worship Committee, the minister, and Music Director. We meet at 11:00 am most Sundays in our 100 year old building, aided by our unaltered Skinner organ. It’s an urban oasis that allows each member to reflect on their own beliefs, issues, and goals. The most important part of our worship is the Message from the Minister.

The weekly attendance at a Sunday service is approximately 60-70 people. For our Christmas Eve service, we usually have 90-100 people. We do not have a Religious Education program at this time, but we do offer child care.

In addition, we have a monthly Vespers program. Vespers is a volunteer-led opportunity for members to feel recharged, while listening to music and the spoken word.

The success of our growth has been the inspirational messages of our ministers. Additionally, we practice Radical Hospitality. We welcome everyone, because of our belief in the first of the seven Principles: the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
