The purpose and value of denominations has shifted and changed over the past century. In some ways, the Unitarian Universalist Association exists as a post-denominational entity, despite its origins in the Unitarian and Universalist movements. We will examine how denominations came to be, what their current purpose is, and why people continue to adhere to them today.
